What can be said about this trip that would do it any kind of justice. The answer is nothing. But I’ll give it my best college try. I met my human mermaid Kendall at the airport in Bridgetown on Feb 12, narrowly (by about two hours) missing one of the worst snowstorms of the year, grounding almost every flight leaving Toronto. It quite literally shutting the city down, closing every single educational institution and most businesses. As I sat in the terminal, I twitched nervously as our 9am flight was delayed by thirty minutes… Kendall was flying in from her home town of Austin, and needless to say, heavily relying on my arriving in a timely fashion in Barbados. I closed my eyes and prayed, as I made several preventative arrangements with my folks on the ground in Barbados, in case things didn’t go my way. As I finally boarded my flight, rumours of two hour wait times to de-ice the plane swirled around the passengers… Yikes. Luckily for both myself and Kendall, they were just rumours and we were off, only delayed by forty minutes total.
